Happy Halloween!

On Halloween Eve, we spent the night carving pumpkins, roasting seeds, making rice krispie treats, and watching Halloween cartoons.

On Halloween, we met up with some friends at the Concerts on the Greens before trick-or-treating. Evelynn was Jessie from Toy Story and Avila was the Alien from Toy Story (although the costume was very short lived as she slept in the carrier for the entire night).

Evey had so much fun running around the concerts with her buddy Grayson and wanted to go "all by mine self" up to the doors to trick-or-treat. Our little Stone is growing up so fast! I am so happy that we are finally back on the Central Coast and we get to celebrate things like this with our friends and their kiddos!

Day 2 of Potty Training

No accidents on Day 2 of potty training! Evelynn even noticed that her "poop" column needed some stickers. She still requests a diaper for going #2 but I'm at least putting her on the potty to try. I'm so happy that this is going so well so far!

Potty Training w/ Evelynn

Today we started our first official day of potty training! I've somewhat tried in the past, but it was more of me just asking her if she wanted to try the potty and her not be interested AT ALL!

This morning when we woke up, I told her that we were going to the store to pick up art supplies to make her Potty Training Chart. I let her pick out the poster board (pink, of course) as well as the stickers and markers. When we got home, I helped her make the chart and let her place all the stickers and add in her artwork. Then we went and hung it in the bathroom and I explained that she would get a sticker for each time she used the potty and she could place it in the column of each potty item. She LOVED this and was super excited about it. I got her all set on the potty and nothing... "it's not working." I told her that was ok and she got a purple sticker for at least trying. Then I put her in her under-roos and told her to let me know if she had to use the potty. About 10 minutes later, she came running up to me letting me know that she needed to go! She got up on the potty and immediately started peeing (and farting... yes, we get stickers for farting... I was thinking it may help her when it's time for #2). This continued for the rest of the afternoon... you don't realize how much they go pee until you're taking them in there every time! I couldn't believe that this was actually working and how excited she was to use the potty. We had a couple of accidents later into the evening and I let her go #2 in her diaper as I could tell she needed to go and didn't want to push her too hard on the first day. All in all, she did a FANTASTIC job and I'm so proud of her! Let's see what tomorrow brings us!

Today was Evey's first gymnastics class and she did awesome and loved every minute of it! I think it's going to be really good for her to have a weekly program to be involved in and I'm excited to see watch her learn new things every week!

Avila - 2 Months Old

Miss Iron is 2 months old today!

Just in the past couple of days, she's been starting to smile at me... and I'm loving every second of it! She is a lot more alert and her eyes are finally focusing on me and following me around. Avila is super strong... she has a death grip and she's constantly wanting to push up and stand when we're holding her. She mostly prefers so sleep on her side, half rolled over. or on our chests (belly down). She's been doing pretty well at night... sleeping anywhere from 2-4 hours at a time, waking to nurse and to be changed. She barely cries when she wakes up, rather just grunts and roots around. Avila is growing like a champ, wearing 3 month and 3-6 month clothing already and in size 1 diapers. Breastfeeding is going really well... she eats like a champ and she is also really great at taking the bottle of pumped breast milk when I have to work. She does really well in the baby carrier and I've mostly been using the Baby Bjorn. She loves bath time and being rocked in our rocking chair, which is pretty much the only way Matt can get her to sleep. She is generally a very happy and sleepy baby and we love her so very much!

Avila loves her sister and smiles and coos when she's near. Evelynn loves to hold Avila and is really gentle with her. She loves to help with diaper changes and bath time and is the first to alert me is baby starts crying. She refers to her as "my baby" and "Av-uh-wa."

Evey: "I draw our big happy family of us."

I am honestly impressed by this drawing... we have heads, bodies, eyes, smiles, and most of us have legs!

1st Shopping Trip with 2 Ladies!

Today I successfully made it through Target and Costco with both ladies... my first shopping trip by myself with two babes! Luckily Avila slept the entire time... and Evey was completely content with her cake pop!

Happy 3rd Birthday Evelynn!

Today we celebrated our Little Stone's 3rd birthday! I seriously cannot believe that it's been three years since we welcomed Evelynn into this world!

I feel like she has grown up so much in the last couple of months... she's so independent (wanting to do everything "all by mine self") but also so helpful and wanting to be involved in everything we're doing (especially with baby). She's a lot more imaginative and I love hearing her making up stories while playing with her toys and explaining how things work to the dogs. She's totally cool playing on her own in her new playroom and loves to show us her artwork and the houses she builds. I think it's a typical 3 year old thing, but she's really into organizing things and putting her toys in certain places in a particular way (very OCD-like). I'm often surprised by the things she says and I wonder if other 3 years old are talking the same way as her. I quickly realized that she picks up on everything that Matt and I say or that she hears from her favorite shows. She loves to learn and absorbs everything! She also loves to help Matt cook in the kitchen and is always there to help me with anything having to do with Avila.

Evelynn LOVES Avila and is the best BIG SIS ever! I'm so happy that they are already fostering such an incredible relationship with one another. Evelynn always says "I love her so much" and Avila is starting to smile when Evey is holding her or kissing her. Seriously melts my heart seeing these two together!

Evelynn now weighs 34lbs and is 39.5 inches tall. She is wearing mainly 3T size clothing, venturing into 4T and size 8 shoe. She is in size 5 diapers and we are having a difficult time with potty training. She has absolutely no interest in using the potty and bribery of treats & toys has no effect on her. She either says "its not working" referring to her not being able to pee on the potty and most recently, "tomorrow" when I ask her to try the potty. We have the floor potty, a Cinderella potty seat, and an official toilet seat with built-in kid's size seat. We have at least 4 potty training books that she loves to read and she constantly is letting me know when she poops or pees. So according to all the books and blogs, she's ready... but she want's nothing to do with the potty and wants to continue wearing her "dipah." I think I'll take a little break and revisit it in a couple of weeks.

As for the birthday celebration, we spent the day at the La Familia Pumpkin Patch with Grandma Lynn, Aunt Dana, and Cousin Ari. In addition to the pumpkins, they have bounce houses & slides, mazes, hay rides, and lots of other activities great for kiddos! Then we had some family over for dinner, cake, & presents and finished off the evening with the most beautiful pink sunset (Evey's favorite color)!
