One month ago, at 8:05am, we welcomed Avila Iron into the world and our family! I seriously cannot believe that it's been a whole month already!
I was surprised at how easy the first 2 weeks were once we got home from the hospital. It may have been because we actually know what we're doing now... or we had our parents around to help us... or Avila is just an easy going baby. Probably a combo of all three. She basically slept, ate, and pooped... with some grunts and squeaks in between. While the second half of the month has been pretty good as well, Avila is starting to cry a little bit more... but actually not for that long. She loves to be held, her favorite position is laying on our chests with her head nuzzled into our necks. Breastfeeding is going well and she actually takes the bottle and pacifier... something which Evelynn wanted nothing to do with. This is an extreme relief for me since I'm working and need to leave pumped bottles for her. She smiles when she is sleeping or after nursing, but has yet to smile much when awake in response to me making a fool out of myself. I haven't weighed her since her 2 week check-up (she was 9lbs 4 oz)... but she's definitely filled out and we just retired all the Newborn sized clothing today and brought out all the 0-3 months and 3 month clothing... lady is going to be tall just like her big sis. Avila and I are currently co-sleeping and we wake up 3 times a night to feed and change diapers. Eveynn and Matt sleep in Evey's "big girl bed" so we don't disturb them and visa versa. Our sleeping situation is actually working out quite nicely and Matt and Evey have a new bedtime routine which has brought them even closer... it's seriously the cutest thing watching them brush teeth and pick out books before heading to bed together!
Evelynn is doing so great adjusting to her new little sister in the house. She wants to help with everything... which is awesome... and honestly, somewhat annoying. She covers Avila in blankets when she's sleeping, holds the bottle when feeding, hops in the tubbie with her at bath time, holds her hands during diaper changes, and constantly gives her kisses. It's the sweetest thing to see how much Evelynn loves "her baby." I can't wait to see their sisterly bond grow as they get older... it's so exciting to know that they will always have a best friend in one another. I love my girls!

Today we celebrated 5 years of marriage and 13 years of love!
Now that I work at the Flying Caballos Ranch... we decided to head out to the ranch to take a photo in front of the yellow farmhouse with Evelynn & Avila... an homage to the photo taken of us 5 years ago on our wedding day.
I seriously could not be happier that we are finally back on the Central Coast, with our two beautiful daughters, and are continuing our life together where it all started! Happy 5 years Bud!

This morning, Avila and I hit the road for the 3 hour drive down to Santa Clarita for her 2 week check-up and my 2 week postpartum check-up. Grandma Lynn came over to hang out with Evelynn for the day. Luckily, this is our last medical office trip to SCV before we switch over our insurance and find doctors on the Central Coast.
Avila did great at her check-up... back to her birth weight of 9lbs 4 oz and is 21 1/4 inches long. Her pediatrician said she looks completely healthy and is super alert.
Quickie road side stop for a diaper change and feeding
Slept through my entire check-up (thank you!)
