Happy Halloween!

I somehow managed to convince the Hames family to dress up as the characters from Evelynn's favorite movie, The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh, for Halloween this year!

Evelynn loved her Piglet costume and was beyond excited to go trick-or-treating to get candy! After cruising around our neighborhood, we headed home and handed out candy for the rest of the night.

Thanks to the Hames family for amusing Evelynn and me and dressing up... it made for quite an amazing family photo!

Halloween Eve - Carving Pumpkins

Tonight was spent roasting pumpkin seeds and carving pumpkins! Matt stayed up super late carving this masterpiece for Evelynn to see once she woke up... what a great dad!

Baking with Evelynn

Today we made sweet potato cupcakes... one of my favorites! Evelynn is such a great helper, she loves to put all the liners in the cupcake tin and she's a master at whisking the dry ingredients!

Evey's Hair

Evelynn's hair is at a very awkward length right now and she's not too fond of headbands, bows, ponytails, or even having her hair brushed. I'll be lucky if she'll leave the ponytails in for an hour or so and most headbands are ripped off before I get them on. But tonight, while watching Toy Story, she let me brush and play with her hair for like 20 minutes! I can't wait until her hair gets longer and I get to braid and twist it and attempt Pinterest-like hairstyles!

Evey's 1st Lakers Game!

Auntie Tracy hooked us up with some pre-season Lakers tickets at the Honda Center tonight! Evelynn actually did really great and loved clapping to the music and watching the Laker Girls. Thanks Auntie Tracy for always hooking us up!

Pumpkin Patch Maternity Photo Session with Auntie Dana

We headed over to a local pumpkin patch this evening to shoot some maternity photos of my sister-in-law Dana. Evelynn had so much fun running around the pumpkin patch while we were shooting. We're very much looking forward to meeting Ariela Danielle Hames!

Here's a couple of my favorite photos of Dana and baby bump Ariela. To see more photos of Dana's maternity session, please visit my Rhone Studios blog.

Happy 2nd Birthday Evelynn!

Evelynn Stone Hames is 2 years old today!

I seriously cannot believe that it's been two years since they laid her on my chest and I looked into her stone grey eyes for the first time and rubbed her little check with my finger. The first year went by pretty fast, but I feel like the second year went by even faster! Matt and I are so lucky to have such an intelligent, beautiful, and independent daughter to keep us on our toes.

I feel like Evelynn has changed and grown so much in the past couple of months. She is talking like crazy, pretty much repeating anything we ask her. She is putting 3-4 words together, using adjectives, saying "please & thank-you" at appropriate times, and knows most of our friends and family by name. She can repeat back numbers 1-10 and the alphabet... she knows that she's 2 years old and her favorite letter is M for "Matt" and "Mom" - she can even draw an M. She knows her colors for the most part, however she calls yellow "Poohie" because Pooh is a gold color and orange is called "Tiggy" obviously after Tigger. Her most common phrase is "I dunno" and she says it before most things even if she does in fact know. "How old are you Evey?" and she replies "I dunno... two." My favorite thing that Evelynn says is "job mom" after I do something, meaning "good job mom." I just asked Matt what his favorite thing Evey is doing these days and he said "I like it when she grabs my hand and says 'dad... come... please' and pulls me to where she wants to go."

Evey is very independent... always wanting to do things on her own. Climbing into her high chair, feeding herself, opening & closing & locking doors, buckling her carseat, putting on her shoes, etc. "No, I do" is what she says if I try and do something for her. I sometimes wonder if she's slightly narcotic (like me) or has OCD... but I think it's just a stage and her finding her independence.

Evelynn is very much into characters right now and loves watching movies. Her favorite is still Pooh, but she's also into Frozen (Anna & Elsa), TinkerBell & Pirate Fairy, Tarzan, Cars, and most recently, Toy Story (Woody & Buzz). It was so fun seeing her react to all the characters at Disneyland... she was SO excited to see Pooh and Eeyore as well as TinkerBell in the parade. She loves playing with her new dollhouse and teacup set and still loves riding on her tricycle and push car. She's getting really good at her letter puzzles, and loves reading books.

Evey is super ticklish... armpits, sides/hips, feet, and under her chin. She has the best gut laugh when we pin her down and tickle her! She has always been and still is super strong and tough... but if she does get hurt, she insists that we kiss it better... and then she's fine. She can navigate her way around the iPad, iPhone, and remote control like a beast! Her favorite foods include mac & cheese, applesauce, fries, raspberries, grapes, goldfish, oatmeal, frozen waffles, and craisins. She also has a crazy sweet tooth... even though we try and limit her sugar intake. It's like she's the best behaved toddler ever the minute she sees an M&M.

At two years old, Evelynn is 28 lbs, 35 inches tall, and is wearing 24 months / 2T clothes, size 6 shoe, and size 4 diaper.

Happy 2nd birthday Miss Stone... we love you so very much and constantly remind each other how much we love you, how beautiful you are, what a rad chick you are, and how lucky we are to be your parents! We love you, happy birthday Evelynn!

We've been amping Evelynn up for months now... and today is finally the day... DISNEYLAND!

We woke up early and hit the road to get to Disneyland by 8:30am. Taking a picture of Matt and Evelynn waiting for the tram, I noticed they were twinsies in their black shirts and teal shorts... love that!

First ride we hit up was King Arthur's Carousel followed by Dumbo... both of which Evey loved! Some of the highlights include Mad Hatter's Teacups, It's A Small World, and of course The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh... where Evey got to meet Eeyore and Pooh! Evey napped for about an hour in the stroller while we ate lunch and then we headed over to California Adventure later in the day. Evelynn loved The Little Mermaid ride, which we rode twice because she started crying once it was over and the ride operator kindly let us go again. Matt and my highlight ride was Soaring Over California! It was an awesome day and Evelynn had so much fun and was such a baller on all the rides... nothing scared her! Thanks so much to my best pal Tracy for hooking it up... as always!
